Barnaby, the Walking Puppet
One of Whalom Park's mascots was this fun 'Walk-a-bout' puppet named Barnaby. The stage was built from light weight pvc piping, with fabric covering it. The puppeteer wore it like a backpack, and the puppet simply fit out the front part of the stage. A piece of black shear fabric hid the puppeteer from view, so kids really thought the puppet was walking around and speaking directly to them. He became a favorite attraction during the mid 1980's when he was introduced to the park, and when this video was made.
